Wall2Cycle
Plant cell walls are central to growth and stress responses. Cell wall integrity (CWI) monitoring ensures the wall remains functional, yet our work in Arabidopsis thaliana has shown that disruptions in wall components, such as cellulose, delay critical cell cycle phases.
Interestingly, plants with altered cell walls can achieve improved stress resistance without growth penalties. This challenges the traditional "growth-defence trade-off" and suggests opportunities for enhancing crop productivity.
Through Wall2Cycle, we investigate how CWI regulates cell cycle progression and coordinates growth and defence.
